The game takes place between events of The Hobbit and The Fellowship of the Ring. Plot Storyline

The plot of “The Lord Of Rings: Gollum” revolves around the year 3017 of the Third age, nearly 66 years after Bilbo Baggins retrieves one Ring from Gollum in Misty mountains.

Aragom, a protagonist of The Lord of the Rings, captures Gollum in Dead Marshes and then hands it over to Gandalf, the protagonist of both The Hobbit and The Lord of Rings series. During this time, Gollum retells the events that occurred over the last five years of Gandalf.

Gollum reached the confines of Mordor, a realm of evil Sauron, in 2980. He met Shelob, a monster in the form of a giant spider. In 3012, Gollum was in Mordor, where he follows the bird into Mount Doom and follows orcs, goblin-like creatures, and tries to ambush them, which he fails miserably.

Nazguls, then force Gollum into telling them the truth about Baggins taking one Ring to The Shire, the land of Hobbits. After that, he wakes up in a slave pit and begins his life as a slave. A frail man helps him, and together they steal tower plans and blow up the bridge to protest for freedom. He is caught by orcs, but he blames it on the frail man and gets freedom.

The next day, Gollum delivers the food to Breeding Pits, where he is taken to towers and meets the candle man, who questions him about the incident. He blames it on Orc, and his life is spared. Several weeks later, he hatches a bird egg and names the offspring ‘Little One.’ Candle Man forces the Gollum to serve him. After many years, he meets the prisoner, befriends him, and helps him to survive prison life.

Tired of his prison life, he plans to escape Mordor, but his friend is captured and eaten by Shelob, but he is successful with his escape. Later on, he is captured by the elves of Mirkwood and questioned by Gandalf himself. He tries to escape with the help of a blind elf named Mel. Both of them seek the magic of Mel’s mentor to bypass Mirkwood.

Candleman finds Gollum at the source of magic and tries to steal it for the evil Sauron. He is stopped by Gollum, who then leaves Mirkwood to find Shire. The game eventually ends with Gollum getting captured again and trapped in the mines of Moria.

Conclusion

While it’s not clear how much improvement the development team can make to fix the game. Overall, The Lord Of Rings: Gollum lacks personality and essence along the insipid storyline. A noticeable drop in the quality of the game during trailers and game launches was also observed. The reasons behind this are unclear.
