The highly anticipated release of the new “slim” version of the PlayStation 5 is expected to occur earlier in November. As per details shared by dataminer bilbil-kun, the slimmer edition of the PS5 is set to hit the shelves on November 10 in the United States. This launch date pertains to both variants of the console: the one equipped with a disc drive and the all-digital version.
Reports from VGC indicate that the PS5 slim, bundled with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, will be available from November 8, priced at $560.
Upon launch, the slimmed-down PS5 featuring a Blu-ray disc drive will be priced at $500, while the digital edition will be offered at $450. These revamped versions will be the standard going forward, gradually phasing out the bulkier models. Additionally, Sony will provide a separate disc drive priced at $80 for purchasers of the new digital edition who wish to add a disc drive later.
The new PS5 models have been significantly reduced in size by more than 30% in volume and weight by 18% to 24% compared to the previous models. Both versions will include a 1TB SSD for expanded storage.
Furthermore, there’s an upcoming Modern Warfare III PS5 bundle slated to launch on November 10, coinciding with the game’s release, at least in Europe.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is set to launch on October 20, alongside Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros. Wonder, making it a significant day for new first-party releases.
